Do you have some sort of product or service that you personally offer to people? Are you in network marketing? Do you own your own business? Do you have some sort of amazing message that you want to share with the world? Do you have some type of amazing service that you give to people that can change people’s lives?
And do you want to boost your sales? Do you want to get that in the hands of a lot more people and change a lot more lives?
This one tip massively changed my life. It allowed me to dramatically increase my sales, and it helped to make a huge difference in a lot of other people’s lives.
A couple years ago, I tried my hand at network marketing. When I first got started, I made all the rookie mistakes that the stereotypical brand-new network marketer makes, right? Like bombarding all my friends and family members with spam messages, and being super salesy and getting super ticked off when people would say no.
I made all those ridiculous mistakes that people who are brand new to that industry would make, and I ticked a lot of people off. Thankfully, we were shown the ropes and we were able to have some success. Of course we were then able to translate a lot of what we learned into our current business.
One of the biggest things that people emphasized, the trainers and mentors that I had, was this one principle of what’s called becoming a product of the product.
“Becoming a product of the product, what does that mean?” The company that we were promoting had some pretty amazing products. Something that I really enjoyed about the network marketing is most companies do create very high quality products.
In this case, we started drinking a product called Green2o, and my in-laws actually introduced it to us. They sent us some samples because at that time I’d had really bad chronic shoulder pain for quite a few years. It was to the point, no exaggeration, where if somebody literally just touched my shoulder, my shoulders would inflame and I’d be in great pain the rest of the day. I’d have to take like a dozen Ibuprofen to even make a dent in it. I went to chiropractors, massage therapists, and physical therapists, and nothing eased the pain.
So they sent me these samples, and I began to drink it, and I noticed after about a month that I didn’t have any pain any more. I was still waiting tables at the time, and for whatever reason people at the restaurant where I worked at at that time loved to grab me by the shoulders really hard and say, “Hey, how ya’ doin’?” I remember the first couple times that they did that, I screamed out in pain, “Dude, what are you doing? That’s really awkward. Stop that!”
After I started drinking this product, I remember thinking, “OK, wait a second, that doesn’t hurt anymore when people grab my shoulders. Weird. OK.”
I started telling people about the Green2o, and that’s what made the biggest difference. I became a “Product of the product” so to speak. I’d had a very life-changing experience, and that was what then allowed me to promote it a lot more and get more sign-ups or registrations.
For a lot of years, I really wanted to create a weight reduction program. I knew I had the tools and knowledge to do it, I had been trained in all these different things, but because I was so overweight for a lot of years, of course I could never promote a weight reduction program. It wasn’t until I had gone first, and I had literally put myself through my own program.
I created my Enjoy Yourself Thin program and my Fall In Love With Yourself Program for myself to use myself as a guinea pig. I put together everything that I had, all the hypnotherapy, NLP, nutrition, exercise training, and all the emotional and the mental healing training that I had received.
It wasn’t until I had become a product of the product that people then started to ask questions and people started to pay attention. Since then, weight reduction has, frankly, it has added an extra six figures to our income just over this last year. It’s become a great source of passive income as we have a really really amazing course; it practically sells itself.
It’s fascinating because, again, I do a lot of sales training and coaching, and a lot of people ask how to overcome objections, and how to ask qualifying questions, and we teach them all that, and the body language. All of that is important, but one of the biggest tools you can use to dramatically increase your sales, again whether that’s in network marketing, coaching, mentoring, is becoming a product of your product.
It’s really, really difficult to sell something if you yourself aren’t actually sold on whatever it is that you’re selling because you haven’t become that product of the product.
Make sure, whatever it is that you’re promoting, I strongly recommend using yourself and your own testimonial to then promote to people. It’s pretty hard to argue with a personal testimonial.
It’s pretty hard to argue when I tell people I’ve dropped 77 pounds because people can see my transformation. They see my before and after pictures, and they go, “Wait, that was you just last year? That was just a few months ago, what?” And I say, “Yeah, this was me,” and I show them pictures.
Because of that transformation, that’s what’s allowed me to promote the weight reduction side of my company. Obviously we do a lot more than just weight reduction.
Becoming a product of the product is one of the biggest tools if you want to boost your sales.
