Of course you are wanting to stay healthy, and one of the questions we tend to get the most as licensed healthcare practitioners is, “How can I stay healthy, when it seems like everybody else is freaking out over not being healthy?” Today, I want to share 4 unconventional methods of staying healthy that you may not have considered before.

Now, you are probably expecting me to say things like, “Make sure to wash your hands,” “Make sure to get as much rest as you possibly can.” Those things are important, don’t get me wrong, but these four things are going above and beyond just washing your hands and taking those common sense precautions to stay healthy.

These four things can make a major difference in your health.

#1 Focus on staying healthy, rather than avoiding being sick.

Remember that whatever we put energy towards expands. Whatever we tend to focus on is usually what we get. And have you noticed that the people that focus on not being sick, usually are the ones that end up being sick? Whereas the people that focus on health, staying healthy and strengthening their immune system and strengthening their bodies usually do just that and remain healthy.

Remember, you don’t want to avoid something. You want to go after what you do want. So instead of freaking out. Instead of panicking and saying, “I want to do this and this so I don’t get sick.” Yes, prepare for the worst (so you don’t fear it), but expect the best.

Take all the things you need to do, and yes, have a plan in case something does happen, but don’t expect the unexpected to happen. Don’t expect the worst case scenario, prepare for it, that way you know that you can handle the worst case scenario, but expect the best. Again, whatever we focus on tends to amplify. Whatever we focus on and put energy towards is usually what shows up in our lives.

Again, number 1, instead of focusing on not getting sick, put your focus on staying healthy.

#2 There are a number of things that you can actually do to strengthen and boost your immune system. There are actually a number of different supplements of course in addition to normal healthy eating, that you can actually use to strengthen your immune system. Some of these things you can get at your grocery store. There are other things that specific companies make.

One of the things that we do to stay healthy, is we like to take garlic extract. Garlic is actually a natural antibiotic. It is fantastic for heart health, lung health, and it is very good at boosting your immunity. In fact, for a lot of years I would get bronchitis every year, but I would get over it much more quickly by taking garlic tablets.

You can get the odorless garlic tablets. The label might say, “odor control” or “odorless”, unless you really want to be smelling like garlic all day long. I don’t, but that’s just me. You can just go to the grocery store, go to the vitamin section, and just pick out some garlic extract. Take some in the morning, take some in the evening, and that can play a huge role in people staying healthy.

Obviously, you want to take your Vitamin C. Everybody knows how beneficial vitamin c is to your immune system and staying healthy.

Now here is a supplement that my family personally uses. If you want to use it, great. If not, that’s fine too, but there is a company based in Orem, UT called Liv International that sells many really great supplements.

One product we use is called BloX. This is something that actually is fantastic for boosting your immunity. We take it in combination with the other things, so we take garlic, vitamin c, and BloX, of course in addition to healthy eating and getting plenty of rest.

Again, that helps us to keep our immune system very strong, and it helps us to stay healthy even when everybody else is not.

#3 Raise your body’s pH. Now, the blood pH is designed to stay pretty much at a constant, but your saliva pH often can vary by quite a bit. Our bodies were designed to be alkaline. Unfortunately, because most of us eat not exactly an ideal diet, most people, at least here in this country, tend to be more on the acidic side. So when they do a saliva pH test, most people find out that their bodies are actually slightly acidic, usually around a 6.8 or below range, where a 7 is totally neutral. Above 7 is alkaline.

One of the things you can do to ward off disease is to raise your body’s pH, because dis-ease cannot thrive in an alkaline environment.

Now, there are a number of things that you can do with that. Obviously there are a number of different supplements that you can purchase from, like Liv International, the maker of BloX. Liv International also makes a product called Green2o. It’s a product that comes in little packets, you put it in your water, and you drink it all throughout the day.

Green2o tastes really great, with options for a mint or lemon flavor. There’s zero calories and no sugar, or anything like that. That is something you can do to boost your pH.

You obviously could be drinking a lot of green smoothies too. A lot of people that join my Enjoy Yourself Thin Facebook group automatically get our green smoothie recipe. That is another way to boost your pH because smoothies, at least when you follow our recipe, are made mostly with organic spinach and/or kale.

What that does is it boosts your body’s pH, so that you are in a state of alkalinity rather than a state of acidity. Again, disease cannot thrive in an alkaline environment, so when you raise your pH, you raise your overall health.

Now, word of caution, if your body has been extremely acidic for a long time, as you raise your pH, you may experience some detox symptoms. So it may feel like you are getting sick. However, you’re not actually getting sick, your body is simply detoxing and pulling out the acidic toxins that have been in your body for a long time. So it may feel like you are getting sick, but you haven’t actually caught a disease. Does that make sense?

Again, alkalize to ward off disease and keep your body very, very healthy.

#4 This fourth one is probably something that some people are gonna disagree with, and that’s OK. This is a fantastic way of boosting your immune system.

After you’ve washed your hands and make sure everything is sanitary, an appropriate loving touch actually boosts your immune system. When you are around people that you love, and you give each other heart-to-heart hugs, or even just little simple basic touches, again yes make sure your hands are clean and all that good stuff, but when they are clean and you give each other loving touches, that very much boosts your immune system and allows you to stay healthy, even more effectively than the other three things that I have mentioned.

One more time, 4 unconventional ways to stay healthy are:

  1. Focus on being healthy instead of avoiding being sick
  2. Boost your immune system with garlic tablets, vitamin c, and if you want to, BloX. You can go online, LivInternational.com and just type in BloX. You can order it online. They will ship it right to you.
  3. Raise your pH. Alkalize your body. If you want my green smoothie recipe, send me an email to Eric@FeelWellLiveWell.com, and we’ll send you the green smoothie recipe so that you can boost your metabolism and boost your immune system with those green smoothie recipes. Or if you want to, check out Liv International. Check out the Green2o; it’s fantastic. It’s really effective and very convenient if you don’t want to be downing green smoothies all the time.
  4. Make sure of course that your hands are sanitized and all that good stuff, but give each other loving touches. Loving touch helps to boost not only your mood, but it helps to boost your immune system significantly as well.
